Mark your calendars and join your fellow sheriffs for the Georgia Sheriffs' Association Summer Training Conference.
Lodging: Hampton Inn & Suites, located at Two Meeting Place, Valdosta, GA 31601, next to the conference center. Room rates are $104 single or double occupancy. Check-in is at 3 p.m.' check-out is 11 a.m. You must present tax exempt forms at check-in. Note: When paying with county funds, you will be exempt from all taxes; when paying with personal funds, you will be exempt only from the lodging taxes.
Reservations: Please call the hotel at 229.241.1234. Indicate that you are with the Georgia Sheriffs' Association to receive the group room rate. Make reservations as soon as possible for rooms are limited. Reservation cut-offdate is June 21.
Conference Registration: Registration for the conference is $225. The registration fee covers cost of activities additional to those included within GSA's state training contract. To pre-register, please complete the registration form and return to GSA headquarters with a $225 registration fee. No cancellation refunds will be issued after July 11.

Agenda: Committee meetings begin Tuesday afternoon; training begins at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and concludes at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. See the tentative agenda below. A final agenda will be in the July edition of the Sheriffs' Update.

In order to qualify for reimbursement for your attendance at the conference, you MUST attend 90% of training and sign the attendance roster for each segment. NO EXCEPTIONS. Sheriffs should turn in the hotel receipt to GSA staff upon departure and a reimbursement check of up to $210.00 will be mailed within three weeks. If you choose to mail the hotel receipt to GSA, it must be received by August 8. No reimbursement checks will be issued after that date. According to state guidelines, sheriffs who live within a 45 mile radius of Emerald Pointe are not eligible for reimbursement.
