To provide the highest degree of cooperation among the law enforcement agencies in the state of Georgia; to promote a standardized method of application of laws in Georgia pertaining to the apprehension and punishment of persons violating the laws of the state; to obtain, disseminate and exchange information on criminals, the activities of criminals and law violations; to bring into close association the sheriffs of the various counties of this state and to promote standards and values in the conduct of their office; to improve and encourage greater efficiency in administration of the Office of Sheriff in Georgia; and to protect the welfare and interest of the members of this association.

The mission will be accomplished through continued cooperation among sheriffs located throughout the state. Through training seminars, crime prevention and crime awareness programs and dissemination of information, the upgrading of law enforcement within the state can be achieved.

The Georgia Sheriffs' Association is committed to an aggressive financial development and public relations effort to fund programs on crime awareness, crime prevention, victim witness, juvenile delinquency, research and development and the improvement of law enforcement throughout Georgia. Key elements of these efforts include: direct mail, special fund-raising projects and communication with the public through all forms of media. The Georgia Sheriffs' Association does not utilize telephone solicitation as a method to raise revenue.
